Alex Salmond and Kenny MacAskill will be grilled by the Scottish Affairs Committee at Westminster today over the release of Libyan Abdelbaset al-Megrahi in August 2009.

Megrahi, who killed 270 people by bombing PanAm flight 103 in 1988, was freed on compassionate grounds by Kenny MacAskill after it emerged that he had months to live due to prostate cancer.

Megrahi’s release was condemned by US President Barack Obama as a “mistake”.
